Bankovitsa Cave
Bankovitsa begins as a passage between two worlds. Daylight, moving air and green growth reach inward, then gradually yield to the coolness, moisture and silence below. The entrance is more than an opening in the rock: it is a living threshold where the surface slowly fades away.
Beyond the frame
Cave entrances form an ecological zone of their own. Light, temperature and humidity shift sharply over short distances, allowing mosses, ferns and invertebrates to occupy a narrow belt between the open air and complete darkness.
