Kranochori Abyss
The abyss near Kranochori compresses the richness of a much larger cave into a confined space. Its walls appear dense and permanent, yet every surface depends on a fragile balance between water, minerals and still air.
Beyond the frame
Many rough cave deposits are more vulnerable than they appear. A touch can contaminate an active surface, while altered humidity or airflow may interrupt growth that has continued for centuries. Underground, conservation often begins with leaving no trace at all.
