Sulfur Cave
Sulfur Cave feels like a place where the rock has altered its own nature. Warm yellow and rust-coloured tones break through the usual grey of limestone, giving the passage the atmosphere of a subterranean chemical laboratory.
Beyond the frame
Sulfur staining can develop where hydrogen-sulfide-rich water or gas meets oxygen and minerals in the rock. Under these conditions, even mild acidity may alter limestone through processes quite different from the familiar action of rainwater.
