The White Cave, a secret location
In the White Cave, colour nearly disappears, leaving an unusually pure interior. Pale flowstone catches every beam of light, turning the chamber into a fragile world that seems both mineral and snowbound.
Beyond the frame
Pure calcite is colourless or white. The yellow, red, and brown tones common in caves usually come from impurities such as iron and manganese compounds or from organic matter. Where these are scarce, flowstone can remain strikingly pale.
