Tipchenica Cave
In the open fields near Kunino, the entrance to Tipchenica appears as a sudden break in the familiar landscape. Only a few steps separate grass and sky from the coolness of rock, making the transition underground feel all the more unexpected.
Beyond the frame
A cave entrance is where the underground microclimate meets the seasons above. In winter, relatively warm cave air may flow outward, while in summer cooler air can remain trapped below. These exchanges shape humidity, ice formation and the life clustered around the opening.
